A Few Life Lessons Learned from Quarantine

These past couple of months have been unprecedented. As the world deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been an opportunity to learn about ourselves, neighbors, family, and our leadership. How we each handle stress differently. But it’s

It’s clear that if you believe the government moved quickly or not, no government was prepared for such a virulent disease. One lesson we can learn from this is to always be prepared.

A positive that has come from this mess is that the world has been thrust quickly into change. Positive change can sometimes require a proverbial boot in the ass to be the catalyst. Whether it’s more cleanliness at restaurants, finance firms not overextending themselves, or IT companies finally acknowledging Remote Working is a viable option, the world will come out of this event much better off in the long run.

Staying inside, it’s important to stay focused on what’s local. Yourself, your family, home, neighborhood, town, and State. Staying focused on a routine will get you through the detour this disease has brought upon us.

Last year I started a new journey on improving my mind, spirit, and body. This year, I started working on the body component and set a goal of losing 15-lbs by the end of the pandemic. I have made a routine and plan that has been executed successfully over the last few weeks. Setting achievable goals and taking action on those goals will help keep you focused on the local during this pandemic, reducing your stress on what inevitably is out of your control.

While we continue to finish out our global quarantine with a relatively unknown future at hand, it’s important to take the time to reflect on the lessons being learned, and positively grow from them while dealing with this life detour.

Let this be a record that in 2020, the world dealt with a pandemic the likes that had not been seen in generations, and we are going to be smarter, healthier, and in the long run, better for it.

Wishing you all peace, health, and prosperity.
